The abundance of wizards and templates limits control a little, but overall this is a real boon for the beginner.

Internet Design Suite is a set of three separate programs from Serif. You get WebPlus 7, PhotoPlus 6 and 3DPlus 2, all designed to make setting up a website as easy as possible.

WebPlus 7 is aimed at the beginner who wants to create a site with minimum effort. You work from a set of basic designs, and there are plenty of wizards to help you tailor these to your individual needs and taste.

Choose the site style and colour scheme, enter the information you require and the program does the rest for you. You don't have to worry too much about publishing to the web, as the interface removes much of the tricky stuff.

You can add frames and text to the screen, and hotspots, hyperlinks, animated GIFs and banners can be positioned easily. There is the option to create your page from scratch but, if you want to do this, you're probably better off with a more powerful web design program.

PhotoPlus 6 is an image editing suite particularly well equipped for web graphics design. There's an animation module that can be used with the effects to create frames of different textures and appearances. Special tools allow the creation of hyperlink images which are surprisingly easy to achieve.

Image maps, too, are very easy to create. The photo enhancing side is simple to use, and the only fault in this program is that you can't browse thumbnails of pictures in Serif's native format.

Finally, the 3DPlus 2 program can be used to add even more animations and 3D effects. You can make impressive logos and scenes without any experience using the wizards and tools available. This is a great addition to the web creation suite.
