If you want to present information nowadays, by far the most efficient method is by using your PC. The latest addition to the range of multimedia presentation tools is uKreate from Platform 77. This development tool allows the user to incorporate data, images and sound into one combined medium.
To start with, you get a tutorial section on the different sections of the interface. This is poorly set out and doesn't cover half as many points as it should, which is a real letdown for a program of this type.
The user interface allows you to set the resolution and size of the show - handy if the presentation has to be displayed on a smaller screen. The interface has numerous toolbars, which can be docked wherever you want them. These allow you to build a project, using events, object and layout tags. You can set timers on pictures and text to make them appear and disappear at the right time, and it's possible to assign different movements to regions of the screen.
This interface is clearly laid out but its quirks take a lot of getting used to, especially when trying to get a project to interact with mouse clicks or pointer movements. The interface does offer great control of the environment but it is a very awkward system and can become severely frustrating when you try and link different events together. The inclusion of a more efficient project overview option is needed to overcome this.
You can make a fairly impressive presentation, including video and sound, but it's very hard work. There are some great features, such as the timer option, but the interface really suffers from trying to do too much at once.
Considering the price, you would really expect the program developers to have ironed out these few faults.
