Multimedia specialist Creative Labs has given a boost to the Apple market by announcing Mac versions of its audio and Internet products.
Already a huge hit in the Windows world, Creative's SoundBlaster Live! series features CD-quality digital sound, up to a staggering 1,024 voices on some models (256 in hardware), and Environmental audio, which can bring 3D and surround-sound effects to games and music. Adding such dedicated sound hardware to current Mac systems would also free up processor time spent on audio.
As with the PC versions, the Mac sound cards are likely to be PCI devices that slot into either a G3 or G4 Power Mac. It is unlikely that version will appear for iMacs as these have no PCI slots.
Internet-wise, Creative has also announced plans to bring its WebCam Go line to Mac users. No prices have as yet been set.
