Hot on the heels of the unveiling of Intel's 0.18 Micron technology Pentium III (Coppermine) processor, upgrade specialist Evergreen has announced that it is to launch solutions based on the technology.
Evergreen's current upgrade solutions, built around the AcceleraPCI platform, are based on the Intel Celeron chip. This is all set to change as it prepares a high-end PIII version.
The upgrade has been made possible by the flexibility of the AcceleraPCI card, which incorporates its own 440ZX chipset, a Socket-370 CPU interface and a 133MHZ Front Side Bus.
The PCI card on which the processor comes simply makes use of the fastest Socket-370 technology available, which was Celeron but is now Coppermine.
Another upgrade option, the Hypertec HyperRace II Processor Upgrade, is a Slot 1 upgrade for ageing Pentium II systems.
