Lexmark, Epson and Xerox are firing on all nozzles as the quality inkjet war intensifies.
Lexmark's £349 Photo Jetprinter 5770 has the highest resolution in its class at 1200x1200dpi. What's more, it can take memory cards (SmartMedia or CompactFlash) from a digital camera and print directly from stored images.
Epson has launched an iMac-styled inkjet. The £199 Stylus Color 740 Blueberry looks like an iMac, talks like an iMac (it has a USB connector), but walks just like other Epson printers - with a top resolution of 1440x720dpi.
Xerox's DocuPrint C15 purportedly prints at up to six pages per minute in colour (10 in mono), and is good for a monthly duty cycle of up to 3,000 pages - making it ideal for small and medium businesses. It costs £219, which includes a one-year onsite 'exchange' warranty.
