Sony has added three models to its Mavica range of digital cameras, including a 1.25-million-pixel model.
Like all other Mavica models, the MVC-FD88 stores images on 1.44Mb floppy disks, using a faster-than-normal integral floppy drive. The camera has a maximum resolution of 1280x960 and an 8x optical/16x digital zoom lens with macro facility. It costs £799.
The £600 MVC-FD83 has a maximum resolution of 1024x768, interpolated up to 1216x912 with a 3x/6x zoom.
Like the FD88, the FD83 can also record up to 60 seconds of MPEG audio and video.
The entry-level MVC-FD73 costs £515 and offers a maximum resolution of just 640x480. It cannot record MPEG video, though it has a 10x optical zoom.
