Flat seems to be the way forward for the latest generation of monitors from Sony, LG, Eizo and Samsung.
LG's huge 18.1in flat-panel TFT display comes with a fitting price tag - the 880LC costs a whopping £2,499. Bestowed with a four-port USB hub and TCO99 accreditation, the 880C has an optimal resolution of 1,280x1,024 pixels.
Samsung has launched what it claims is the world's first '3D' TFT monitor.
Two LCD panels are sandwiched together with a glass pane, the 3D Hyper Monitor promises 'image depth that cannot be seen with regular two-dimensional monitors' and is expected to cost £5,000. Users will have to don a special pair of glasses to experience the full 3D effect.
Sony unveiled the first CRT flat display 19in Trinitron model, the £821.33 Multiscan F400. Eizo's FlexScan T550 flat-screen CRT monitor costs £433.58.
