The latest digital cameras launched by major manufacturers include Hewlett-Packard's PhotoSmart C30, offering a 1-megapixel resolution for £468.
But this is pricey compared to Kodak's new offerings. The Kodak DC200Plus is a redesign of the company's megapixel range, offering 1152x864 pixel images for £249, while the new DC240 costs £499. With this, you get a resolution of 1280x960 pixels, a choice of exposure modes and a true 3x optical zoom lens, with a USB port.
The DC265 costs £749 and like its predecessor, the DC260, it offers a 3x zoom lens, 1.6-megapixel resolution and a programming language.
The Konica Q-M100 offers 2.1-megapixel resolution and saves to Compact Flash cards, while Fuji's new MX-2700 is a compact device with a 2.3 mega-pixel CCD giving 1800x1200 pixel snaps. Prices are not finalised.
Kodak has announced plans to start selling its products via the Internet in the UK and at the same time slash the number of distributors it uses. 24 Jan 2000
