The usual crammed raft of new PCs sails in for summer with Siemens, Gateway, Viglen, NEC Direct and Time all shipping new systems.
Time's 475-3D DVD range of PCs is the company's first to be powered by AMD's 475MHz K6-2 3DNow! processor. Prices start from £898.88 and a typical machine features 64Mb of memory and an 8Mb AGP Rage Pro graphics card.
NEC Direct ups the ante by unveiling a Direction PC with a 550MHz Pentium III processor. £1,173.83 will buy you a machine with 64Mb of RAM, an 8.4Gb hard disk drive and a 15in monitor.
Viglen follows suit with the introduction of 550MHz Pentium III models across its entire range of 100MHz front side bus systems. Call Viglen for price information and specification.
Not wanting to be left out, Gateway presents the Performance 550XL. Along with the aforementioned processor and 128Mb of memory, the PC will cost you £2,113.83.
Bringing up the rear is Siemens, with a series of systems starting from just £499. The cheapest model, the Scenic 320, comes with a Celeron 366MHz processor, 32Mb of RAM and a 4.3Gb hard disk drive.
