Sony has unveiled three new business laptops in its Vaio range.
The first is the Vaio SR, designed for the "out and about professional". Weighing in at under 2kg, the SR has a claimed five-hour battery life, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of memory, a 13.3in screen and 1.3-megapixel webcam.
The SR also features a new 'Switch' function which lets users change the whole "personality" of the notebook at the touch of a button. Users can choose a customised personal desktop or a "serious professional look and feel".
The second in the new range is the Vaio BZ, an A4-format notebook with a 15.4in screen, 1.3-megapixel webcam and multiple security features.
The BZ's larger screen is aimed at the executive who needs to take his laptop to presentations and boardroom meetings.
The BZ11VN is the first Vaio notebook based on the Intel Centrino platform with vPro technology for built-in remote manageability and enhanced security.
It also includes a fingerprint reader and Trusted Platform Module hardware to guard against unauthorised access to sensitive data.
The last in the set, the Vaio Z, is the smallest, weighing less than 1.5kg and packed into a carbon-fibre case.
Selected models include embedded 3G modems which can switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi and 3G to ensure a constant connection to the internet.
"This range of Vaio Business notebooks represents a significant evolution in our offering to the business market," said Nicolas Barendson, head of the Vaio Business Unit at Sony UK.
"Professional end users need security, reliability and mobility. We provide the best of these features and functionality, all wrapped up in a beautiful design."
The new Vaio Business range is expected to be available from 16 July.
