Americans watched 11.5 billion online videos during March, a 13 per cent jump on the previous month and a 64 per cent gain on March 2007.

Google has further extended its share in the online video market following a surge in people watching clips on YouTube.

YouTube accounted for 98 per cent of all videos viewed at Google sites, which took a 38 per cent share of the market with 4.3 billion videos viewed.

Fox Interactive Media ranked second with 477 million videos (4.2 per cent), followed by Yahoo sites with 328 million (2.9 per cent) and Viacom Digital with 249 million (2.2 per cent).
