Barclaycard has unveiled a credit card which also acts as an Oyster card and has contactless payment functionalities.
The three-in-one Barclaycard OnePulse is set to launch across London in September.
"We believe that Barclaycard OnePulse is the future of payments in London, and hope that as many Londoners as possible enjoy the benefits when it is rolled out in the autumn," said Elizabeth Chambers, chief marketing officer at Barclaycard.
The card was designed by Kino Design and is aimed at commuters who live and work in and around the capital.
OnePulse will feature Barclays' OneTouch payment system, which allows cardholders to make purchases of £10 or under by touching their card against a reader instead of using a Pin or signature.
The transactions are then listed on the cardholder's credit card statement.
"Barclaycard's OnePulse is an opportunity to get consumers used to using one card with three separate but related features: credit card, small payments card and travel card," said Cameron Olsen, vice president of business development at near-field technology firm Smart Technology Solutions.
"OnePulse is a forerunner of how contactless cards will soon be launched in the UK, following the current practice in the US.
"The trial in London is consistent with a high density of consumers who are already used to the contactless Oyster card."
Barclaycard has launched a OnePulse pre-registration website where users can register their interest so that Barclaycard can contact them as soon as they are able to apply for the new card.
