Student Daniel Meyer designed a device that could be used for
video-conferencing, and was inspired by the traditional practice of carrying
pictures of friends or family members around with you.
Nokia made a dummy version of the winning picture-frame handset to be shown
at an exhibition in London's
Air
Gallery this week.
The wide brief for the project asked students to create concepts for a
premium but mass market mobile communications device capable of providing
multimedia services up to the year 2015.
"The brief was a great challenge, especially because we had to consider
social trends and technological changes," said Meyer.
The winning package included a cash prize and the offer of a work placement
with Nokia's design team.
