Microsoft has made an investment in Laplink and licensed "various technologies" from the remote PC access firm, it emerged today.

"We look forward to developing a stronger partnership with Laplink," said Kenneth Lustig, managing director of intellectual property acquisitions and investments at Microsoft.

He explained that the move was designed to help Microsoft respond to an increasingly global and mobile workforce.

Thomas Koll, chief executive at Laplink, added: "We anticipate a rewarding relationship with Microsoft."

Koll is a former Microsoft vice president responsible for relationships with telcos, ISPs and network equipment providers. He also served as country manager for Microsoft Germany.

In addition to Laplink Everywhere and ShareDirect, Laplink's current product line up includes PCmover and Laplink Gold 12.
