HP has unveiled its latest printers and digital cameras, including one that "revs" like an engine when turned on.

Cameras include the HP Photosmart R717, M417, M22 and M23 models with HP Instant Share, with US prices ranging from $149 to $349.

The company said that the HP Photosmart R717 6.2-megapixel, 8x digital zoom camera and M417 six-megapixel cameras will both feature an ergonomic grip, while the Photosmart M22 and M23 four-megapixel models come in a weather-resistant all-metal case for taking photos in a variety of conditions.

All the cameras will feature HP's 'Real Life' technologies which it claims make it easier to take crisp and realistic photos.

HP will also offer a limited-edition HP Photosmart BMW Williams F1 Team special edition digital camera. The navy blue camera "revs" like an engine when turned on.

The vendor said that the new releases are the first of many products, including photo printers, inks, digital cameras, scanners and PCs, that it plans to deliver this year.

"HP provides a simple path for consumers and professionals to capture, print and share photos the way they want, when and where they want," said Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president of HP's Imaging and Personal Systems Group.

The HP Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer, with the new HP 101 Blue Photo Inkjet print cartridge, creates nine-ink colour prints that deliver "noticeable improvements" in images with intense blues, including landscapes, seascapes and sports photos. It is expected in April for an estimated US price of $499.

HP has also unveiled the Designjet 90 Printer series for professionals in the photography, design and proofing fields, due to be available this summer at estimated US prices of $995 to $1,150.
