Linux Networx has developed a clustered storage appliance which is able to pool capacity from separate storage devices into a single high-capacity resource.
Dubbed Xilo Scalable Storage System, the offering combines storage devices, management software and scalable file systems in an appliance-based system that allows large files to be distributed across multiple storage devices for increased efficiency.
All storage devices are managed from a single interface, providing a storage sub-system that the firm claimed is simple to manage and easy to upgrade.
Xilo supports Lustre, a file system from Cluster File Systems, which is designed to scale to thousands of compute nodes and petabytes of capacity.
"Xilo is filling a need in the storage industry to provide high performance, scalable storage at an impressive price/performance ratio," said Eric Pitcher, vice president of technical marketing for Linux Networx.
