Bluetooth headsets are extremely useful, but if you're often listening to music via an mp3 player it's a pain having to take off your headphones and plug in the Bluetooth headset whenever you receive a call.
The Gennum Nxzen Plus avoids this by combining the two.
As a standard Bluetooth headset it's small and very comfortable to wear, while the in-ear plastic nozzle also keeps a snug fit without pressing too hard.
The manual claims it's possible to wear the headset without the ear hook, but we struggled to do this.
Just two buttons control the headset and a quick reference card lists no fewer than 17 controls using these buttons; learning how long to hold down each button to perform a particular function may take some time.
Pairing with a Bluetooth phone was straightforward and the main controls for answering calls and changing the volume are pretty intuitive.
If you want to listen to your mp3 player while wearing it, you'll need to use the included cable to connect it up. This cable also houses a second earpiece for stereo music, but it doesn't feature the same comfortable design as the one housed on the actual Bluetooth headset, which a shame.
The input used for the headphone doubles up as the charging socket. Conveniently, a USB cable for charging is supplied along with a standard charger. Battery life is pretty good at up to seven hours talktime and 100 hours on standby.
Sound quality was good thanks to the noise cancelling microphone, but at over £100 it's not cheap.
