Kodak's DX3600 is a little chunky at 120mm x 74mm x 50mm and 230g, but it will suit inexperienced photographers looking to enter the digital point-and-click market.
The 2.2Megapixel camera captures still images up to a resolution of 1,800 x 1,200 or 900 x 600 pixels, while video is captured at either 320 x 240 pixels at 20fps or 160 x 120 at 20fps.
Data is stored on 8Mb of built-in Flash Ram, and there's a Type I CompactFlash slot for external storage.
A slide switch on the front uncovers the 2X optical and 3X digital zoom lens. There's also a light sensor, microphone and built-in flash with fill-in and red-eye reduction modes.
The DX3600 has zoom and flash controls, as well as a four-way paddle with menu and select buttons. The shutter release, speaker and a mode dial with movie, still, review and set up options are located on the top of the camera.
A single button on the Camera Dock transfers images from the DX3600 to your PC or Macintosh and also recharges the NiMH battery. Software supplied with the camera provides basic image management and manipulation tools.
Images can also be transferred via a separate USB cable or displayed via a TV with the included composite video cable.
