The Cyber Security Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) is making £250,000 funding available for academic and industry organisations to research a range of security challenges.

The KTN hopes the funding will promote greater cooperation between industry and academia in the field of security research.

Organisations must bid research projects which will deliver the best information on topics including:

A guide for smaller organisations on how to understand and prevent e-crime,

A way to assess the security risks of outsourcing,

A guide to the security risks of service orientated architetures.

Those that are picked will be eligible for £50,000 funding awards.

The KTN is also offering funds on behalf of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for post-graduate students to work with a company for three years to solve a specific cyber security challenge.

The KTN is run by security vendor QinetiQ.
