The Ministry of Defence Medical Services department has signed an £80m deal with supplier LogicaCMG to develop an electronic health and dental record system for service personnel.

Under the Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DmicP) complete records will be available in peace-time sites from the end of next year and across deployed locations including ships and field hospitals from 2008.

From 2010 the system will also interface with the data 'spine' being developed under the £6bn National Programme for NHS IT.
