The Metropolitan Police Authority has awarded a £31m seven-year contract to IT supplier LogicaCMG to manage its payroll and pension administration systems.
The outsourcing contract will see LogicaCMG, work with pensions administration firm Paymaster, to maintain the IT systems that process financial payments for the forces 46,000 police officers.
As part of the deal, LogicaCMG will work with the Metropolitan Police Service to develop a range of new payments and benefit tools, potentially including employee self-service portals, which can be used to update individual records.
'Staff motivation and retention has never been higher on the agenda and HR outsourcing of this nature presents a powerful opportunity for organisations to reduce the administrative burden on HR professionals,' said Gary Austin, managing director for LogicaCMG's enterprise services division.
