Hands up any of you who have accidentally deleted an important file or suffered a system crash that has taken most of your data with it.
We're also betting that those with your hands in the air didn't have a suitable back-up to restore from either.
Now is not the time to panic, as these deleted files are not actually scrubbed from your hard disk. Instead, Windows is told that the file no longer exists and the space it was taking up is now free to be used.
Ontrack's EasyRecovery Lite software uses this knowledge to search for these 'deleted' files.
The interface is friendly - for most file-recovery options it just requires you to pick a hard disk to search.
However, it can also recover files on a hard disk that has been formatted recently. To make the most out of the software we recommend reading the excellent online help files first.
