The Kodak LS743 is a very small 4-megapixel camera that manages to fit in an impressive number of features.
16Mb of memory is built in, although this will only store nine images at the highest quality. To store more photos you'll need to buy a SD or MMC memory card.
There is a manual viewfinder but it can't display some of the advanced settings, such as shutter speed or red-eye reduction. The 2.8x optical zoom works well though.
Image quality is very good for such a small camera and, if you get your hands on Kodak's EasyShare Printer Dock 6000 (£150), you won't need to connect the LS743 to a PC to print out your pictures.
The manual claims that on a full charge the battery will give enough power for around 200 pictures. This will vary, though, depending on flash usage and how long the 1.8in viewfinder screen is on.
The LS743 can capture video and sound and also offers a burst mode for pictures. There is a TV-output socket too for viewing shots on the big screen. It's not cheap but it's a good camera with some nice touches.
