An excellent high-capacity drive that works without a peep - highly recommended.

Most new PCs come with a sizeable hard disk but, for owners of older computers who are running out of storage, a new internal drive is the cheapest solution.

Seagate has built a solid reputation for making excellent hard disks and it has just launched a new one in the shape of the Barracuda ATA V.

With a 120GB capacity, the Barracuda V offers plenty of room for just about anything you'd care to store.

It's also a 7,200rpm drive, which means it spins around 35 per cent faster than the 5,400rpm drives supplied in most PCs.

That's not to say it's 35 per cent faster but owners of 5,400rpm drives will notice an overall performance increase.

As with any internal hard disk, installation needs a screwdriver and a steady hand but it's a simple enough task. Seagate also provides both downloadable and web-based set-up utilities, which is handy.

The best bit is that in use, the Barracuda V is almost completely silent, making it a must for anyone wanting to silence a noisy PC. Shop around for the best price, however.
