Creative Sound Blaster 4.1 Digital

On-board sound can be a bit forgettable but it's difficult to justify spending more than £100 to get top-notch audio.

Creative's Sound Blaster 4.1 Digital sound card offers plenty of high-end sound features but will leave buyers a penny change from £30.

As the name suggests, the card supports surround sound using a 4.1 speaker system. It can also be used with digital 5.1 systems through the S/PDIF connector.

It occupies a PCI slot in the computer and as such can be a little daunting to install if you're new to delving inside a PC. Setting it up is a cinch, however, and it performs fantastically considering the price.
