Expired PC manufacturer Carrera Technology has risen from the ashes to reappear as Carrera SSC.

Bromsgrove-based Digital Networks negotiated the deal to resurrect the defunct firm, farming out the warranties contract to Maztech Technical Services. The company has also stumped up for Carrera's "intellectual property rights" and domain name.

Commenting on the acquisition, Mark Johansen-Berg, director of Digital Networks, said: "The market is consolidating and soon there will only be room for around 10 major players. With Digital's other activities, especially in the home entertainment market, we will emerge as a leading force in home entertainment and automation."

Elsewhere, a spokesman for London-based Mesh Computers confirmed that the company has taken on "a number" of ex-Carrera employees, but refused to comment on rumours that Mesh has also bought up some of Carrera's remaining assets.
