Apple has said a bad batch is the reason for a screen problem with some of its new iPod nano music player and it will replace these.
Some nano owners are claiming that the LCD screens have cracked while in normal use. The situation was brought to light by an iPod nano owner who set up a website called www.flawedmusicplayer.com for others affected by this problem.
Now Apple has admitted the problem, a company spokesman claimed that it only affected a very small percentage of the music players, (0.1per cent) that have been sold and it was due to a "vendor quality problem with a small number of units".
However, Apple refused to say how long it would take for users to receive a replacement. It also would not explain why a product recall has been issued for the alleged 'bad batch'.
Owners of an iPod nano with a damaged screen should contact AppleCare on 0870 8760753 to arrange for a replacement.
Other complaints about the recently launched nano concern scratches on the LCD screen. Here Apple has denied claims that the casing of the iPod nano is prone to scratching and said it uses the same material as the iPod, for which it have not had any complaints.
It recommended that people use a cover designed for the music player to protect them against scratches
