Apple enthusiasts at the opening of this week's Macworld trade show were shown how to create 'Hollywood-style' films and set up their own web pages with no programming knowledge.
Delegates were also given the opportunity to try out Apple's optical mouse and Pro keyboard, which will ship as standard with the company's G4 PowerMac Cube, unveiled on Wednesday by chief executive Steve Jobs.
The optical mouse, which works without a mouseball, has a transparent casing and can operate on most surfaces without a mousemat. The keyboard, also transparent, offers two USB ports, volume control and disk eject keys.
Apple also unveiled iMovie 2, which enables users to create videos with voice-overs, musical scores, transitions, titles and credits. Users can also change the look of their films by giving them a sepia tone, or add soft focus or a water ripple effect. iMovie 2 will ship with all Firewall-enabled Macs, including the latest iMac, Cube and PowerMac G4 systems.
Meanwhile, the redesigned HomePage, part of the iTools range available to Mac users free from Apple's website, enables users to build their own site with no programming experience. Users can drag and drop elements such as photo albums, family newsletters and iMovies into pre-designed templates.
Apple has unveiled several new versions of its colourful iBook laptop range and announced the availability of a public beta version of its next operating system, OS X. 13 Sep 2000
