Canon has shifted its focus from PCs towards Internet appliances, the company revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The electronics giant has launched a range of printers designed specifically to work with Web appliances. Officials predicted that such appliances would become the selling force of the future.
Canon's LR1Internet printer is the industry's first bubblejet printer specifically designed to print Web pages and is expected to retail at $249.
A spokesman said the manufacturer expects products dedicated to this market to benefit from the increased availability of broadband access.
Inkjet printers have traditionally been very expensive to run. However, the latest Canon BJC-6100 helps you keeps costs low with its colour cartridge - each individual inkwell can be replaced separately, so you don't need to replace the ink cartridge when only one of the colours has run out. 01 Jan 2000
