A corporate version of the Rex credit card sized personal organiser, incorporating user authentication for corporate networks, is being planned by the product's new owner, Xircom.
PC connectivity vendor Xircom today bought the Rex product line from Franklin Electronic Publishers for $13.25 million and plans to tailor the Rex for the corporate market.
Rex currently offers personal organiser functions including calendar and address book. It is the size of a credit card and slots into a PC for synchronisation.
Xircom said it plans to develop a corporate version of Rex that includes wireless connectivity, the ability to display Web pages and security capabilities. Xircom will develop the security features with RSA Security, incorporating RSA SecurID in Rex products.
